A Simple way to say Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommy bloggers!!!
I thought i would give something little to all the Mom's who came into store today-just to say (Happy Mother's Day) in a little way-& i get to be creative which is what I love as well.
So i found these old flowers in the rafters of our garage (almost threw away) but figured i might be able to do something with them one day-
Well paint fixes everything (right?) so i spray painted pink (my favorite)
Used some music sheets- cut in half and rolled them to make little holders-
Printed up little tags that said (happy mother's day) cut them cutely, and glued into place- Added the sprayed flowers dabbing bits of hot glue inside to hold secure-
and lastly added twine bows-
So every Momma that comes in today gets one and gets a dainty little white mini cupcake..
Flowers that won't die-and sweets who doens't want that.
Have a Great Mother's Day -hopefully doing what you Love!

Decoupage & Cricut -What more do you Need in Life!

A Quick little Project while at work-took a small child's table-that was just sitting behind door not getting any attention, and after reading another blog (forgive me for not remembering which one) I saw the amazing Blogger covered the table in letters all over in no order (it was adorable) So i started thinking i would frame the edge with lower and upper case letters. Making it a cute little table for small children to color and possibly learn their ABC's.
1-Used my favorite new toy the Cricut to cut out differ. fonts and sizes of letters (Saving the left over card stock that i pulled the letters from-maybe could be used as an alphabet stencil at some point)
2-Spray Glued the letters on going around edge of table-
3-Used decoupage glue/sealer to go over holding and sealing the letters in place-Let dry for a few hours.
4-And lastly i covered in a polyurethane giving it an extra seal- seeing as it is meant for kids- wanting it to be water-juice proof.
Add some chairs and ready for the little ones...
LOVE that Cricut & Decoupage!

If Only I could Focus!

These are the four (vintage) chairs currently all inside my home waiting for some much needed love- they got promoted from garage to living room, and family room and bedroom (slowly).I brought one in thinking i knew what i was going to upholster it in- but then read a blog or saw a picture and changed my mind-so then i went to another chair, and knew exactly which fabric i was going to use- but then when i draped it over the chair, didn't look right, so moved on to the next chair-and same thing..Thus why i have these four, plus another in our bathroom-one in the hallway-and still NINE more in garage not including the 4 amazing matching dining chairs i just painted white with lovely cane backs-or the side chair with such character (that only needs a fabric for the seat changed out) that is sitting in front of my fireplace. I do realize a Chair addiction problem i do have..So instead of working on one of those sweet little chairs, I made crowns - Why you ask- not so sure, But i do like the way they turned out- Cute for Mother's Day (hunh).. Yes i do believe i have ADD- but wouldn't have it any other way-

Absolutely going to start tonight- Hopefully ill have a pic for tomorrow-

Do It Yourself Stamp

So I thought i would share how i made the stamps, i used on the aprons and pillows i have made.
I started with a piece of insulation ( my husband brought home from work) but you can get a chunk pretty cheap at a home improvement store as well- I printed up some designs from the computer- and then traced them with pen onto the insulation-and used a razor knife to cut out-
Then stamp away- so cheap and easy- it isn't a perfect design with exact detail but it works for the price and the imperfection of it is also what makes the rustic look.
P.S. happy cinco de mayo!!!

Perfect for your Princess Pet!

A Pretty Little Princess Pet Bed For your Pampered Sweetie..

(Fits my little Shi t' zu) Henry perfect in his dainty size of 16 lbs- I spared him the photo session seeing as that could be embarrassing to the little guy posing in a Princess Pink bed.

1.I found an old vintage side table, painted it in a heirloom white-lightly hammered out bottom portion of table

2.Finished up painting-slightly distressing it -giving it a shabby look-and then nailed down that portion i originally hammered out -to the table as it is now upside down

3. Added some foam i cut to the rectangle size, put some extra foam on it, stapled down some Cotton fabric- to hold it all on .

4. Now covering it in a pink-gold textured satin fabric-stapled securely-sewed some matching piping and ruffle to trim the frame of bed

5. Used a left over piece of thin ply wood (found in scrap pile in garage) and cut with jigsaw to fit the four post of table-nailed down to secure it

6. Next I made a tootsie roll out of some left over padding-and set in the middle of the roof and then covered whole thing with a thin layer of padding-and covered with the pink-gold textured satin-stapling underneath .

7. Then cut some white fabric to fit roof exactly and hot glued it underneath to hide the staples and give a more finished look.

8. Last added the white-gold tulle around frame work-Hoping to give it more of a dramatic Princess look-and Done.

Perfect for your Pampered Princess Pet or maybe even a Dolly Bed and now at my little shop looking for a sweet owner.

Blogging (a secret little world of happiness)!

Has anyone out there thought of how important blogging is to so many of us? It is like a secret little world of happiness. No one talks about it, the media or newspapers or really in the magazines. But here is this world where we all come together with our common love of creating, sewing, crafting, painting, re-finishing, gardening ,which ever, and we all Share, and Encourage each other, and here we meet these amazing ladies we are so alike, it is like having hundreds of pin pals or best friends all over the country and meeting up to share, inspire, and encourage where otherwise our paths would never cross. But here in Blog land we get to meet each other and live vicariously through each others projects, adventures, trips, mistakes, blunders, re-dos, and Be Oh so positive to one another. Where else can you go to get such positive feedback, lovely comments, great ideas, and thoughtful suggestions... I JUST LOVE it, and as i sit and share with my husband about what i have seen or read or want to copy i do refer to some of you out there as my friends as if you were right here in our town, In person sometimes ladies dont want to share or arn't always as encouraging as they could be -BUT not in bloggersville. So i wanted to share my gratitude to all of those who share ideas, and leave such nice comments and give great advice ..
Just wanted to say A BIG THANK YOU to all of you Blogging ladies- you totally make me smile, make me laugh and give me one more thing to look forward to each day...

My Many Projects

Thank you so Much for the nice comments on my "little" sign, Much Appreciated..
Here are some of the items i recently have worked on,first the lamp- i have had for over a year,so i painted it white, distressed it and then while putting the light in it I accidently broke the shade so i had to use one I found in garage, but it was plain-so Had to Add some Fur, then the window bench, or at least that is what i turned it into. Painting it heirloom white, distressing it, and adding a long pink toile cushion, and a few accent pillows of different sizes with burlap-chenille backs- i thought it would be cute in a little girls room. Going with my love of pink, For the 3rd time i "think" changed out the fabric on this Antique little mini rocker- How cute would that be as a decoration piece in a nursery. Remember the Gun Hutch, well I painted it, distressed it, and had my husband add some shelves to make it a display type cabinet- really i thought it would be perfect for crafts-fabrics, I love seeing those of you with pretty craft, sewing rooms and lovely storage.
And the last one a cute little Vintage arm chair i found at an Estate sale and touched it up and upholstered it in a deep burlap- Very Neutral for anyone's room, just add that accent pillow to bring in your own color and style..Just an example of how my mind works, i can't just work on one project- i go back and forth between many. Working on a dog bed, some vintage side chairs, and an odd half circle vintage type chair (that i can't decide what fabric to go with) so it just sits here next to me, oh yeah and tyring to think of something unique to give my daughters teacher for (teachers appreciation week) hmmm ??

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

So First off here is a picture of the sign i made to hang outside of the corridor of the building i have my shop in. Im in the back of a hallway with a few other shops, So i had to make it eye catchy to get someones attention (are you thinking runway-get ready for landing) you can see the one next to mine-and the differ.in apperance-size..Maybe too much?
So here are some aprons i made for the shop, I love the fancy-the frilly- the style more than the practicle-so i thought of some cute fancy hostess half aprons would be fun- and different than my linen stamped ones or the toile one's/w fur-and the Tiffany Blue one , well reminded me of the 1950's and i thought the fabric was cute.
If your going to host a party, you should do it in style.

Fur-Sparkle-Ribbon-Glitter-Tulle- I just can't get away from the all the Fancy Frill- I sell them at my little shop as well as at my Etsy Shop (gracefully vintage).

A Vintage Sofa, with New Style!

My little fixer upper mini vintage sofa,I just thought this little petite sofa was too cute, perfect delicate size and oh so vintage, the date inside was stamped 1981 just a bit out of date.
Always so hard to decide which fabrics, but i tend to go with my favorites the toile and because i could never have white in my home with 3 kids, husband and doggy, i choose white cotten seeing as it was going to the new shop and then painted the wood in a black and barely distressed it..
i still havnt figured the whole zipper thing out -or at least to where it looks good, so i made the seat cushions with ties- Yes removable-washable and you would never see the ties( bows) they are in back hidden by all the accent pillows..
And so perfect for $399 ( i think?)..

New Adventure of Creativity & Opportunity!

Ok, so i have been such a bad blogger lately- Recently i had an opportunity to have my Very own little shop, and as exciting as it sounded i waivered a bit, the fear of the unkown, uncertainity, and the sole responsability (oh my) but then my husband & children reminded me of how much i live and breath to create, make & share what i love so much and how they would help my along- I jumped in so with many hours painting, adding molding and building a register area and figuring what to have available to customers, we officially opened today...
Here are a few pic's- the register my husband built for me, with nooks and crannies for my crafting while i work, the beautiful black window doors to welcome you in, some new stuff to carry for gift giving, my favorites the animal prints ( as you see i pull from blogging world),the sign we made- trying to be different from the others, but unique with the vintage inspiration..
Would Love to hear your thoughts, suggestions for me and my new adventure..
